DESCRIPTION

The Marshmallow Puff is an oversized women’s puffer jacket released by Aritzia under its Wilfred Free label for Fall 2018. True to its name, the jacket was designed around an exaggerated, cloud-like silhouette, combining generous insulation with a strongly sculpted shape.

The jacket is constructed from a smooth, high-shine water-repellent fabric, giving the heavily padded baffles an almost liquid appearance under the light. Large horizontal quilted sections run across the body and sleeves, while the dropped shoulders and substantial filling create an intentionally voluminous fit.

One of the Marshmallow Puff’s most distinctive elements is its oversized padded hood. Deep and heavily insulated, it forms a large protective collar around the neck when worn down and can be pulled up for additional coverage. The front closes with a central zipper concealed beneath a wide snap-button storm flap, extending from the neck to the hem.

A removable padded belt allows the otherwise oversized shape to be drawn in dramatically at the waist. The belt features multiple stitched channels and a covered double-ring buckle, echoing the jacket’s glossy construction. Two large angled hand pockets are integrated into the lower front and finished with matching reinforced trim.

The rear retains the same oversized quilting, with the belt emphasizing the contrast between the jacket’s broad upper body and full lower section. Its slightly elongated hip-length cut provides considerably more coverage than a cropped puffer while preserving the exaggerated proportions that define the design.

The Marshmallow Puff was sold in several glossy colourways, including Black and a metallic grey/taupe shade. The latter became particularly recognizable after being worn by Vogue editor Madeline Fass during New York Fashion Week in February 2019.
