DESCRIPTION
The Moncler Armoury is a vintage women’s down jacket characterised by its highly padded construction, glossy nylon shell and strongly defined hourglass silhouette. Generously filled horizontal baffles give the jacket its distinctive rounded volume, while a cinched padded waist creates a more fitted shape through the body.
The jacket features a large fur-trimmed hood, a high padded collar, a concealed front fastening protected by a press-stud storm flap, and two angled flap pockets. Its combination of oversized quilting, glossy fabric and substantial fur trim gives the Armoury the unmistakable luxurious aesthetic of Moncler’s vintage fur-trimmed puffers.
At least two visually distinct versions of the Armoury were produced.
The earlier version can be recognised by its longer, more natural-looking fur trim, with individual guard hairs giving the hood a slightly wilder and less uniform appearance. The hood is cleanly constructed without visible external drawcords, and the jacket uses dark contrasting press studs, particularly noticeable on lighter colours such as khaki and beige.
The later version received several noticeable design changes. Its fur trim is denser, fuller and more uniform in appearance, giving the hood a smoother and more luxurious finish. This version also features visible hood adjustment cords with black toggles. Perhaps the easiest detail to identify is the hardware: instead of contrasting dark metal press studs, the later Armoury uses colour-matched press studs, painted to blend with the nylon shell.
These differences make the two generations relatively easy to distinguish even when the overall cut and quilting remain extremely similar.
